An earthquake measuring ​6.4 ⁠magnitude has struck Papua New Guinea, ‍the German Research Centre for Geosciences ​says.

The ‌quake hit at ​a depth ‍of 106​km, ​according to GFZ.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

Earthquakes are common in PNG, which sits on top of the seismic Ring of Fire - an arc of intense tectonic activity that stretches through Southeast Asia and across the Pacific basin.
