A freight train and vehicle have collided at an intersection north of Numurkah.

An SES media duty officer said emergency services were called to the collision at the intersection of Numurkah Rd and Allerts Rd at Katunga about 5.10pm on Tuesday, April 30.

At 5.50pm, she said the driver and sole passenger of the vehicle — a woman — was out of the vehicle and an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson confirmed paramedics were assessing one person.

A police spokesperson said the vehicle’s driver was injured in the crash but there were no other injuries.

Cobram and Numurkah SES crews, as well as police, ambulance and fire brigade crews, were at the scene.

The freight train was not derailed in the incident.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.
