Gannawarra Shire Council is seeking residents’ help to develop the next version of its social inclusion plan.
Over the next five weeks, the council will continue work on the 2025-2029 Social Inclusion Strategy, helping to ensure all residents feel valued and part of the community.
Chief executive officer Geoff Rollinson said the first strategy, adopted in 2019, helped the council to lower barriers for groups most at risk of exclusion.
“The next version of this important document will aim to build on this work,” Mr Rollinson said.
Residents with a disability, or who are culturally and linguistically diverse, Indigenous, identify as LGBTIQA+, young, older, or socio-economically disadvantaged are prioritised in the new version.
Feedback on the new strategy has been provided at pop-up sessions through a survey about community connectedness and how the council can improve social inclusion.
The survey can be completed online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/yoursay, or in-person by collecting a copy from council customer service centres.
All feedback received before 5pm on Friday, February 14 will assist the council with a draft version of the updated strategy.
The council will seek residents’ view on the draft in mid-2025.
