Saputo lifts its milk price

Saputo Dairy Australia has announced a step-up in its minimum milk price of $0.15/kg of milk solids for the 2024-25 season.

This step-up increases the weighted average farm gate milk price for exclusive supply in the southern milk regions (Victoria, southern NSW, South Australia and Tasmania), with a new price of $8.30 to $8.45/kg MS.

This payment will be made with April proceeds during May, and automatically applied to all qualifying milk supplied under Saputo’s published exclusive milk supply agreements from July 1, 2024.

Saputo milk supply and planning director Kate Ryan said SDA remained committed to paying a competitive milk price.

“During the current season, we’ve seen continued stabilisation of commodity prices for the start of calendar year 2025,” Ms Ryan said.

“Meanwhile, domestic market challenges persist as cost-of-living pressures impact the local trading environment. Consumers remain cost-sensitive and value-focused.

“As we look to the 2025-26 season ahead, the outlook for domestic and global demand remains uncertain and volatile, with geopolitical tensions and inflationary pressures still impacting purchasing activity.”

The milk prices quoted are a weighted average across SDA’s supply base. Milk prices achieved at individual farm level will vary and final milk prices will be influenced by a variety of factors on-farm.

Updated milk supply agreements will be published on SDA’s website at: https://www.saputodairyaustralia.com.au/milk-supply
