Thursday, May 8 marked Career’s Day Out for 2025, where students from all over the region could explore the various stalls on offer.
The News reporters Pip Turton and Sharlene Baldo were on the scene, chatting with students about their post-graduation goals and speaking with organisations about how the day was going.
Farnia Mirjani — Year 9 Goulburn Valley Grammar School student
I want to be an actress.
I enjoyed finding out what all the universities around this area have on offer, and trying different things.
Connor Finnigan — Year 9 Rushworth P-12 College student
I want to be a concreter and a farmer.
I’ll farm when I want to farm, and concrete when I need to concrete.
I loved looking at the tractors.
Dusty Roberts — Year 8 Rushworth P-12 College student
I want to be a cattle showman/fitter.
Charvintha Jyothi — Year 8 Goulburn Valley Grammar School student
I want to be a dermatologist when I’m older.
I loved visiting the different stalls and getting to experience all the different opportunities everyone has to offer.
Izaak Hopkins — Year 10 St Mary of the Angels student
I want to be a mechanic.
The free stuff — it’s pretty good, I’ve got a drink bottle and some books so far.
Jesse Minicozzi — Activities in the Park
We have a lot of activities around Shepp and stuff for the kids, it’s so good. And obviously people are getting around it today, we have a silent disco today, and we’re doing loom bands as well.
It’s been pretty good.

It’s been really good, we’ve got our toilet slam dunk, and our skiddy race track ... a bit of fun, but teaching them what roles we’ve got.

It’s been great.
There’s actually a program we’ve been running for a couple of years, and I just spoke to a girl that came over specially to tell us she’s now Certificate IV in construction, and she’s started a program that we started in Echuca and she’s progressing...
Just like some of the people that come in, I touched their lives too, setting up a start in the career for them and helping them.

It’s been good, this is our third year doing it.
We’ve learned as we’ve gone along, so the display really intrigues the kids ... and that’s what we learned from the first year, to get that engagement.
(On the first year) we were sort of just learning ourselves, what to have set up.
A lot of the other stalls sort of had really engaging stuff, so we thought we’d actually show the process (of cheesemaking) from start to finish.
There’s been a lot of engagement this year.

They’ve been really engaging, just really excited to be here today. It’s good to have pathways and different opportunities in education.
It’s good to see the other community stalls and see what they can do.
I’ve got a Year 10 son at the moment as well, he’s been here since this morning, so it’s good ... it’s interesting from a parent’s point of view as well as an educator’s.
