Music students from Greater Shepparton Secondary College delighted young audiences at the May Cushion Concert held at Eastbank on Tuesday, May 27.
Twenty-seven students from Years 7 to 9, representing the vocal ensemble and mid-level band, showcased their talents after dedicating weekly rehearsals throughout the term to prepare for this special event.
“We had performed before at the cushion concert, but some of the Year 7 kids were greatly looking forward to the occasion,” GSSC music teacher Lachlan Gallacher said.
“The little kids were really enjoying it.”
The Function Rooms at Eastbank were transformed with plush rugs, creating a welcoming, flat-floor setup that accommodated prams and made it accessible for mums’ groups, grandparents, preschools and families.
The cushion concerts are designed as a relaxed introduction to music, providing an inclusive space for children, parents, carers and families to experience live performances.
The format allows emerging performers to connect with the community in a pressure-free environment.
