Rochy on top early in GMCW

After a rained out round two of Goulburn Murray Women’s Cricket, Rochester has found itself on top of the ladder after a win over Bamawm-Lockington United in round three.

Playing its first game of the season, BLU won the toss and elected to bowl on its home deck of Bamawm Recreation Reserve against Rochester.

Both of Rochy’s openers Hayley Broucek and Harriet East retired on 19 not out from their 30 balls, while Cadence Major blasted 29 off 24 to lift Rochy to 4-103 off its 20 overs.

The wickets came by committee for BLU, as Amy Fitzgerald, Aurellia Kemp and Shae Christie took a wicket each.

In the second innings, the Lions started off well as Fitzgerald and Bree Styles both retired not out on 20.

Emma Beal chipped in with 11 and Liz Chapman ended on 13 not out as the Lions finished their 20 overs at 2-91, 12 runs short of the total.

Rochy’s Broucek was the only wicket-taker in the win.

Moama and Rochester will face off in a T20 classic at Moama Recreation Reserve on Sunday, while BLU will look to bounce back when its hosts Cooma at Bamawm Recreation Resereve.
