The Goulburn Valley Hockey Association returned to action over the weekend, with Echuca-Moama taking on Shepparton Youth Club across the men’s and women’s competition.
On the local field at Echuca College, the Women’s White, and men’s A- and B-grades were all in action.
In a closely fought contest, the women’s side went down to SYC in the contest 3-2.
Rebecca Webb scored both goals for the River Rats, but goals to Jess Trevaskis, Kim Starkey and Dakora Graham earned SYC the win.
The A-grade side had a tough outing against SYC, falling 6-1.
Matthew Humphrys made the lone breakthrough for Echuca-Moama, while Alex Dow (2), Joel Hamill (2), Ryan Mackenzie and Matthew Irwin all got on the score sheet for Shepp.
It was a closer contest in B-grade, but the River Rats couldn’t find their way to goal, defeated 2-0.
Steve Child and Callum Bailey notched the goals for SYC.
The lone success in the senior grades came down the Murray Valley Hwy as Echuca-Moama’s Women’s Green side dominated Euroa 7-0.
Courtney Thompson had a day out with four goals, well-supported by Jess Crisp (2) and Georgia Thorpe.
Juniors
The under-15s mirrored the Women’s White side, losing to SYC 3-2.
In the under-12 division, Echuca-Moama Green fell to Benalla 6-2, while White prevailed in an 11-9 goal-scoring bonanza.
