Against one of the less challenging match-ups in the Picola District Football League this season, Picola United made no mistake, comfortably dispatching Blighty to continue its dream start to the season.
A cagey first quarter saw the Blues only kick two goals to the Redeyes’ one and lead by just eight at the break at Picola Recreation Reserve.
Picola found its scoring form coming out of the interval, slotting five while keeping Blighty goalless in the second as it opened up a 40-point lead.
The Blues would go on to accumulate another eight majors in the second half, restricting the Redeyes to two as they prevailed 15.14 (104) to 3.10 (28).
Taylor Beard was the scoring leader for United, slotting four, while Matthew Jorgensen and Tom Byrnes provided good support with three each.
Jared Laffy’s work off the half-back flank earned him best on honours for the Blues.
An unbeaten 4-0 sees Picola in good company at the top of the table, trailing only the defending champion Waaia on percentage.
Eighth-placed Jerilderie should provide a more significant test next weekend after the Blues have taken on each of the league’s current bottom three over the past three rounds.
Picola will visit Jerilderie Recreation Reserve for the fixture this Saturday.
