In what was a tight tussle throughout, nothing could split Moama and Numurkah in round seven of Murray Netball League.
The Magpies travelled to Numurkah Showgrounds with plenty of momentum on their side following a surge in performance recently.
The Blues didn’t make it easy for the visitors, with both sides trading blows for much of the opening quarter until Numurkah edged ahead by a single goal at the first break.
Both continued toiling with Numurkah extending its lead fractionally, but the 2024 runners-up refused to let go, the deficit four at half-time.
The third term was much of the same, the Blues still managing to hold on to their slim lead with the Magpies poised to make a big push to close the game.
Despite a valiant effort to keep them at bay by Numurkah, the final frame was all Moama, with its unit putting in a stellar fourth-quarter performance on both ends of the floor.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to pull out a comeback victory, with both sides left unsatisfied, but not empty-handed in a gritty draw.
The final score was 45-45.
While not getting a win against a lesser opponent standings-wise would be a little bit disappointing for the Magpies, a draw was good enough to hold on to their position within the top four for another week.
Moama will have a prime opportunity to notch another win as the halfway mark of the season closes in, as it will travel to Scott Reserve to battle the current wooden-spooner Cobram in round eight.
