With Stanhope having the bye and Echuca drawing with Mathoura, the two Campaspe Playing Area weekend pennant heavyweights maintained their status in round five.
Elsewhere, Tongala was no match for Rochester, which finally got its first win for the season, falling 1-47 to 15-61 and Deniliquin ran over the top of Kyabram 12-50 to 4-47.
Rochester’s Richard Feuk and Tongala’s Matthew Liverton couldn’t be split, drawing 19-all before Timothy Quinlan and Leslie Walles ran over the top of Stephen Hammond and Bradley Tinning, respectively.
Although Kyabram’s Robert George and Paul McInnes got wins over Deniliquin’s Conway Bovell and Stephen O’Brien 20-12 and 17-16, respectively, Deni’s Shane Laing put Greg Shilling to the sword 22-10 to take the overall win.
Lower grades
In division two, Tongala snagged one over Stanhope 12-63 to 4-60, while Kyabram pulled a victory out against Moama 66-14 to 2-37.
While Stanhope’s David Millard and Andrew Morris won their respective rinks over Tongala’s Stephen Tinning and Bill Hatzie 20-19 and 25-12, respectively, Jorja Ponton dragged Tongala to victory after soundly defeating Robert Armstrong 23-15.
Kyabram’s Robert Mason and John Hausler got the job done for their side in rinks three and two, despite Moama’s Roy Jackson jagging one back against Darryl Gade.
It was a full slate of games in division three as Rochester snuck past Tongala 13-59 to 3-55 while Stanhope got a tight victory over Lockington 12-55 to 4-52 and Kyabram extended its unbeaten streak to five after defeating Deniliquin 16-71 to 0-44.
Rochester’s David Murray and Bernadette Tinning drew the first rink 18-all before Rochy’s Jane McCallum defeated Hayden Crilly 27-11 and Tongala’s Peter Kesson beat Graeme Chambers 26-14.
While Lockington’s John Fisher and Steve Pavone both got wins in their rinks, but, it was Stanhope’s Barry Williams’ victory over Leanne McInnes 24-10 gifting Stanhope victory.
It was a straight set beat down for Kyabram, who continues to prove they’re the ones to beat with Phillip Denham, Peter O’Brien and Noel Thomson winning convincingly.
Division four also saw Moama and Kyabram remain perfect heading into round six after defeating Rich River 16-69 to 0-43 and Kyvalley View 15-69 to 1-50, respectively.
Elsewhere, Rochester triumphed over Tongala 14-59 to 2-56.

Meanwhile, Kyvalley View put up more of a fight against Kyabram, as Rod Donohue drew with Geoffrey Coad before Ky’s Ray Harrison and Ted Hazelman ran over the top.
It was a rough round club-wide for Tongala, as the division four sides also lost to Rochester, with only Jennifer Reid putting up a fight against David Marshall 28-11.
In division five, Echuca Blue won out against Stanhope 14-42 to 0-30 and Deniliquin White conquered Kyabram 12-41 to 2-38.
Stanhope’s Wade Summers and Mal McLean stood no chance against Echuca Blue’s Dennis Smith and Dick North, going down 14-21 and 16-21, respectively.
It was a much more even contest between Kyabram and Deni White, as Jill Barrett got things rolling for the red and black against Cheryl Bradley 22-16 before Lloyd Ritchie bested Ray Guerra 25-16 to give Deni the victory.
