Mathoura and Picola United found themselves outclassed in round 10 of Picola District Netball League.

The Timbercutters’ home fixture against Starthmerton was competitive for much of the time on court, but Mathoura remained a couple of steps behind over the four quarters.

The Bulldogs opened with a 14-7 first period, immediately putting Mathoura on the back foot, before extending the advantage to 11 by half-time.

The game slowly slipped from Mathoura’s grasp, Strathmerton winning the second half by seven goals to eventually walk out the winner 50-32.

At Dookie, Picola United was comfortably defeated by the league newcomer, which looks a force to be reckoned with.

The now 8-2 Thunder were clinical, doubling up the Blues’ score 70-35.

Picola tried to hang on in the opening period, trailing by seven at the first break, but Dookie only grew stronger as the game went on, piling on the goals for a big win.

This Saturday Mathoura (0-10) visits one of the league’s better sides in Katunga (7-2), while Picola United (3-6) will host Tungamah (6-4).
