With both sides looking for their first win of the 2025 season, the A-grade netball match-up between Picola United and Mathoura had more at stake than bragging rights.
At Picola Recreation Reserve, it was eventually the host that proved the better side on the day, putting in a consistent four-quarters to secure a 34-21 victory.
There was no killer blow from Picola in the contest, the Blues slowly breaking away from the Timbercutters over the course of the game.
United took an 11-6 lead into quarter-time and extended it by a further two goals to lead 21-14 at the half.
The margin was 10 at three-quarter time and Picola sealed victory in all four periods with a 7-4 final term.
Progressing to 1-2 moves the Blues into 11th on the ladder.
This week's fixture against current cellar dweller Blighty will give the side a golden opportunity to level its season ledger at 2-2.
Meanwhile, Mathoura will have another opportunity to end its winless run as it battles fellow 0-3 side Waaia.
