A run of defeats for Picola United has come to an end, the Blues easily handling Dookie United in round 11 Picola District Football League action.
It was a modest start to the contest for both sides at Dookie Recreation Reserve, as the Thunder failed to score a goal in the opening period, while Picola managed a wayward 1.7.
Both teams improved after the quarter break, but it was the Blues who kicked away, leading 5.9 (39) to 2.6 (18) at half-time.
United would accelerate further after Rhys Woodland's half-time team talk, slotting seven majors in the third period to establish dominance and take a lead of more than 50 points into the final period.
The Blues continued to fire in the fourth, eventually walking away 16.14 (110) to 6.8 (44) winners.
Cody Haub was again the focus of the Picola front line, finding the centre of the sticks six times, while Hayden Brown and Taylor Beard kicked three each.
Lachlan Ludeman was responsible for four of Dookie’s six majors.
After a first win in a month, Picola has settled into sixth position on the table at 6-3.
One of the Blues' nearest rivals, Tungamah (7-3), is next up, and a win would level United on points with the Bears, with Picola having played one fewer game.
The clash will be at Picola Recreation Reserve on Saturday.
