Brisbane have inflicted another second-half nightmare on the Storm, roaring back to win their grand final replay in Melbourne to secure their first points of the NRL season.
Just as in last year's title decider, the Broncos kept Melbourne scoreless in the second stanza while overturning a big deficit to snatch a 18-14 victory in their Friday night match at AAMI Park.
Proving themselves the comeback kings, it's the sixth time they've won after being at least 14 points down since round 16 last year.
It was also their first win in Melbourne since 2016, snapping a nine-game streak, and they did it without skipper Adam Reynolds, who is sidelined with a rib injury.
"We needed to get our game right and I think we've seen glimpses now of what we can and are capable of doing in that second half," said Brisbane coach Michael Maguire.
"We made it hard for ourselves through completion rates in the last couple of weeks, but, the way they sort of stuck together and at halftime they spoke about what they needed to do and they went out and did it.
"It's something they've been chasing for the last sort of month."
Running out for the second half, the Broncos were down 14-0 and completing at just 55 per cent, looking set for a third successive loss to open the season.
But second-rower Jordan Riki scored twice in 10 minutes and then Kotoni Staggs burst through to power over in the 58th minute to put his side in front for the first time, with Reece Walsh adding the extras for an 18-14 buffer.
Brisbane's defence, which had conceded 66 points in their opening two rounds, also found some steel as they foiled Melbourne's desperate attempts to wrest back control.
The Storm had multiple chances to score but couldn't put the finishing touches on their attack.
They had no such trouble in the first half when they completed at 88 per cent, continuing their impressive form in their previously unbeaten start to the season.
Sua Fa'alogo, who bagged a hat-trick last round, was first to cross for the home side, with the fullback running on to a pass from Joe Chan.
Second-rower Chan also got in on the try-scoring when Jahrome Hughes stood in a tackle and offloaded to his teammate right on halftime.
Storm coach Craig Bellamy said his side's defence lacked consistency.
"We just need to get more consistent - our defence was like two different teams, they just had the same jumper on," he said,
"In the past this team prides itself on its defence and that's one area that we need to improve this year."
Brisbane have two players on judiciary watch with Walsh put on report late in the first half for an alleged high tackle on Cameron Munster.
Staggs was also put on report for a high shot on Storm centre Moses Leo but Maguire didn't believe either would have a case to answer.
