Local young movers and groovers are gearing up for the annual Showdown at the Soundshell.
Set for the musical heart of Campaspe Shire, musicians aged 12 to 18 will grace Girgarre on Saturday, November 15.
Last year’s event saw Shepparton duo singer Kaitlyn Martin and instrumentalist Aditi Xavier take home the top prize, followed by Bendigo’s Emma Gleeson in second and Echuca didgeridoo player Joey Possum-Fox in third place.
At the first edition in 2023, Moama singer Indi Gilmore got the gold, with Moama’s Imogen Anderson named as runner-up.
While the experience of showing up at the showdown is invaluable, the first place winner receives $1000, and second and third win $250 each.
Hailing from Rochester’s red dirt band Born n’ Bred, Paul Colyvan and Glenda Bancell also support the winners with recording studio time.
Applications for the 2025 event are open until Tuesday, October 21 via surveymonkey.com/r/X8NRSW2
