Moira Shire Council administrator Suzanna Sheed has been appointed chair of the Goulburn Valley Libraries board.

As a passionate advocate for libraries and the local communities, Ms Sheed brings a wealth of experience to the role.

“People visit libraries for a whole range of reasons — to seek information, to connect with others, and to collaborate," she said.

"Our libraries are more than just buildings; they are gathering spaces for our communities.”

Ms Sheed said she was honoured to have been appointed as chair of the GV Libraries board and looks forward to working alongside other board members as they strengthen local communities through access to information, resources, programming and creating collaborative spaces.

GV Libraries chief executive officer Felicity Macchion said she was excited to have Ms Sheed as the new chair.

“Suzanna’s dedication to our community and the vision for the future of libraries align perfectly with our goals at GV Libraries,” Ms Macchion said.

“I look forward to working closely with Suzanna and the entire board to continue our important work serving the Goulburn Valley community.”

Ms Macchion also thanked the outgoing chair, Louise Mitchell, who took on the role more than 12 months ago.

GV Libraries operates library services in the Greater Shepparton, Moira and Strathbogie local government areas, serving a population of nearly 108,000 people.

Representatives from all three local government areas comprise the independent board.

They are responsible for policy development, strategic and corporate planning, and service evaluation of the organisation, ensuring that the libraries remain dynamic spaces for learning, cultural enrichment and community connection.
