In celebration of Poetry Month, a group of locals came together for a haiku adventure.
The haiku became an independent poetic form in the 13th century, having originated in Japan.
Guided by the theme of peace, the writers formed haikus to celebrate the end of April.
Haikus formed by local writers
Ellie: One seed, fertile soil / Souls seeking serenity / Peace starts with me
Mari: With all of us here / we are so diverse / yet so much alike
Graeme: All the folk we see / may differ in every way / Peace begins with me
Qiu pu Qiang/Lian Siou En: (translated from Chinese) Peace is a symbol / symbolises everyone’s mercy / like a gift from God
Maxien: Water from ferns drip / small birds alight on branches / silently peaceful
Irene: Peace, oh mighty peace / how grand to have heaven / immediately
Tony: Rocks, trees, grass, water / In my hand a grain of sand / slides into shadows
Craig: Peace begins with me / Everybody get on board / A better world now!
