A magical evening of musical talent and Christmas spirit is set to take over Shepparton for the return of Carols by Candlelight.

On Sunday, December 18 the Queen’s Gardens, on the corner of Wyndham and Nixon streets, will host the annual event for its 48th year of family-friendly fun and entertainment.

The Carols by Candlelight program runs from 6.30pm to 9pm, with talented local performers taking the stage and a special visit from Santa Claus.

The free community event will offer a variety of food and drinks for purchase, supporting local community groups and businesses.

Event organisers encourage attendees to bring a low chair, rug, cushion or blanket to make for a comfortable evening.

City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali welcomes everyone to join in the holiday celebration in person; for those who can’t attend, a live stream of the event will be available on council’s website.

“Christmas is a time for people to come together, and council is proud to continue to support this wonderful tradition of Carols by Candlelight,” Cr Sali said.

“The spirit of the event has always been about bringing the community together and supporting one another, let’s continue to celebrate everyone’s hard work and achievements and wishes for a happy and prosperous new year.”
