The annual Regen the Plains event was held across the weekend in Nanneella.

More than 40 volunteers planted about 420 native trees from McKindlay’s Riverine Nursery across two properties in the region, funded by Carbon Positive Australia.

Organiser Dan Walker was thrilled with the turnout, especially given the cold and windy weather on Saturday.

“It went really well,” he said.

“It was a horrible day, but we still had people turn up.

“We still got about 420 plants in the ground.”

Although some original plans, like the live music, had to be paused, attendees still enjoyed a Welcome to Country and a pancake lunch.

There were also a few guests who braved the conditions to camp on the site.

Mr Walker said he would definitely hold another event next year and was looking forward to hosting it again.

“I just need to find some more locations,” he said.

“I’ve got a year to plan, so that should be fine.”
