Light of her life

Corowa photographer, Sue Davis captured this stunning photo of the Aurora Australis “somewhere between Corowa and Rutherglen” last Wednesday night.

“It’s a secret spot,” Sue said, unwilling to reveal the exact location.

The Aurora Australis, or Southern Lights, is commonly seen in the skies above Antarctica but sometimes it can be seen further north, and last week was one of those times.

Not always visible to the naked eye, Sue said you needed a camera to see the lights as they appeared in her photograph, but some are intense enough for the human eye to see.

With advanced cameras on smartphones and apps which will alert you to times the lights will be visible, it’s become much easier to witness and to capture the Aurora.

Sue is a retired wedding photographer of 30 years who is now enjoying life and largely photographing landscapes.

“It’s all about the light,” she said.

“I do it because I love seeing the beauty and the nice parts of life… I don’t want to stop.”
