Katamatite learner driver has car impounded

A learner driver had their car impounded for 30 days with a cost of $1280 after being stopped in Devenish.

On May 19, Benalla Highway Patrol pulled over a 44-year-old woman from Katamatite on Benalla-Tocumwal Rd, Devenish.

Checks revealed she was driving on a learner permit, with no supervising driver and no L plates displayed.

As a result, her car was impounded for 30 days with a cost of $1280.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said learner drivers must have a fully licensed driver with them at all times, and L plates clearly displayed.

“These rules are there for everyone's safety,” the spokesperson said.
