There’s a new coffee shop on the block.
The third in the Stellar Coffee family — Fortyeight by Stellar — is a quick detour off the main street, in a quieter location than its two other outlets in Wyndham St and on campus at La Trobe University, in Taylor’s Estate.
Owner Matt Kington said the Guthrie St position would be convenient for Stellar’s south-end customers, but also for those walking, running and cycling along Shepparton’s shared path network along the Broken River near the new shop, which links up with Victoria Park Lake and the botanic gardens in Kialla.
While the original location in Wyndham St is the parent and SISTA by Stellar at La Trobe was its first child, Fortyeight by Stellar is somewhat of a little brother who will bring something to the family that the others don’t.
It is the first of the three Stellar coffee shops to open on a Sunday, and Mr Kington said customers would be able to wander around to Fortyeight and stop for a light breakfast or morning tea with their coffee while out walking their dogs or meeting friends in the neighbourhood.
“We really like this part of town,” he said.
“We’ve got lots of locals coming in, from the school, childcare, tanning salon; the community down here is really good.”
After six months of build time to convert the former hairdressing salon into a modern and relaxed café, Fortyeight had a “sneaky launch” on November 12 and is now fully open for business.
Aside from living up to Stellar’s reputation for quality and consistent coffee and juices that locals have become familiar with since the first shop was established in 2019, the Guthrie St location also has a selection of focaccias, toasties, granola cups, cakes and slices.
It will be open from 6am to 2pm Monday to Thursday, 7am to 4pm on Friday, 7am to 1pm on Saturday and 8am to noon on Sunday.
To minimise wait times for pick-up, orders can be placed on the Bopple app or by phoning Fortyeight on 4804 6999.
