The South Gippsland Dairy Expo is organised by the Strzelecki Lions Club, and the 26th event was on September 3 and 4.

The annual expo is recognised by the South Gippsland Shire Council as a key economic outcome for the region. About 1000 people attended the expo, with the largest attendance on the first day.

Jhon Roxas, John John Co, Jollibee Co, Abe Bartolome and Ivy Nahial all work on the Mt Lyall Dairies farms at Nyora, and are employed by the Lancey family. They are all from the Philippines, where they gained their first experience working on dairy farms. John John and Jollibee arrived in Australia after working in New Zealand on dairy farms. John John now manages one of the Lancey dairy farms. Jhon and Ivy worked on dairy farms in Japan before moving to Australia. All of them have been working on the Mt Lyall Dairies farms for four years, and are seeking Australian residency, sponsored by the Lancey family. Chris Lancey said they were valued workers, and he trusts them with the autonomy to recruit other workers who originate from the Philippines and have moved to Australia. Photo by Jeanette Severs
