Deniliquin-based pianist Paul Young will join internationally renowned violin virtuoso Jonathon Glonek to bring classics for the violin and piano to new audiences.
As part of his tour of Adelaide and rural and regional Victoria and NSW, Mr Glonek has invited Mr Young - who is director of music at South West Music - to perform with him in Deniliquin this Friday and Cooma on Sunday.
Mr Glonek has spent the past 18 months promoting classical music to rural communities through his initiative The Bendoc Philharmonic.
It has so far chalked up more than 50 concerts, presenting the world’s greatest classical compositions.
“It is my fourth tour of rural and regional Australia to perform music that is not even heard very much in the cities,” he said.
“I am always thrilled by the reception the work receives there and I am particularly excited this time to bring something truly unique.”
The program planned for Deniliquin will feature sonatas for violin and piano by Beethoven and Brahms, the fiery Baal Shem suite of Ernest Bloch, the much loved romantic arrangements of Kreisler and Heifetz and the dazzling intensity of Wieniawski.
It will be presented in the comfortable surrounds and fine accoustics of The South West Music Regional Conservatorium in Cressy St, Deniliquin.
The performance is due to start about 6.30pm, and last about two hours.
Entry is $30, and you can book your ticket online at www.trybooking.com/CLZTN.
