It was a celebration at Benalla P-12 College’s Faithfull St Campus on Friday, August 22, with the official opening of its new, modern learning spaces.
Member for Northern Victoria, and former student, Jaclyn Symes officially opened the new classrooms and facilities.
Those include brand-new food technology classrooms, upgraded school and staff buildings, and a modern canteen for use by students and staff.
The Victorian Government allocated $14.3 million in its 2022/23 budget for the project, which will give students the amenities they need and deserve.
“We know that the spaces students learn in can have a big impact on how they learn, and now Benalla P-12 has the high-quality spaces our kids deserve,” Ms Symes said.
“It’s always great coming back to my old school to open upgraded facilities as well as to thank teachers, school staff and families for all the hard work they do.
“When I got elected 11 years ago, it became a mission of mine to make sure that I was able to give back to the town that he had given me so much.
“I am so incredibly proud to deliver this on behalf of the government.”
Executive principal Kylie Cotter said it was an exciting day for Benalla P-12 College.
“The transformation brought about through stage one and stage two of this building project has been truly remarkable,” she said.
“It’s created an inspiring learning environment here at our Faithfull St campus.
“We're really excited to see how these changes will continue to shape the future for Benalla P-12.
“As a principal, it has been an absolute privilege to lead our school community through this period of growth and positive change.
“I'm really proud of what we've achieved together.”
