Allegedly stolen car stopped in Cobram after police chase

An allegedly stolen car was stopped in Cobram after a cross-border police chase on Tuesday, November 11.

Police were called to reports of a man allegedly driving a stolen vehicle and involved in a pursuit in NSW before travelling over the border to Victoria.

Stop sticks were deployed on Barooga Rd at Cobram, with the vehicle pulled over about 3.40pm.

The driver was located nearby in grassland and arrested without further incident, police said.

It is understood the police helicopter was also used to track the vehicle during the incident.

The man was wanted in relation to an alleged aggravated burglary on Saturday, November 8 at a house in Yarrawonga.

A 30-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with 38 offences, including aggravated burglary, assault-related offences, theft of a vehicle, two counts of theft, handling stolen goods, driving offences, and contravening a court order.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Wangaratta Magistrates' Court on Thursday, November 13.
