The Benalla All Blacks Football and Netball Club community has gone over and above to support couple Kaare Glass and Courtney Herd, and their baby Frankie.

Many in the community will know the family, or will have read about their situation in The Ensign.

For those who are not aware, after suffering a serious injury on the footy field, Kaare spent months in intensive care.

In that time the couple welcomed baby Frankie into the world.

Sadly, she was born with a number of conditions, which has had the family travelling to and from Melbourne for medical appointments — at a time where Kaare has been unable to work.

On Saturday, May 28, the Benalla All Blacks held a fundraiser for the young family.

When all was said and done the total raised was $42,057. An amazing achievement.

The money was raised through the auction of goods and services, generously donated by Benalla businesses and the community.

A club spokesperson said many items were vigorously bid for, and exceeded expectations.

“(The well) over 200 people attending dug deep for this worthy cause,” the spokesperson said.

“Kaare and Courtney were overwhelmed by the response and thanked everyone for supporting them on their journey with Frankie.

The Benalla All Blacks Football and Netball Club asked to thank Pete Symes and Mark Bullock for conducting the auction and subtly prising out each and every dollar raised.

“We would also like to praise the whole Benalla community for their response, particularly the business community, whose ... donations were simply phenomenal.”
