Events across the region on Australia Day

Local councils will be running events across the region to mark Australia Day on Thursday.

Across City of Greater Shepparton, ceremonies, events and entertainment will be held in Dookie, Arcadia, Murchison, Tatura, Mooroopna, Shepparton and a community barbecue will be held in Toolamba.

Across the region, events will be held in most towns in Moira and Strathbogie shires.

Australia Day events

Shepparton

Where: Queen’s Gardens, Shepparton

When: 8.30am with proceedings to start at 9am

Australia Day awards will be presented to outstanding community members and a citizenship ceremony will be held. A light brunch will be available along with musical entertainment by Shepparton Brass and Wind and Monga, who will perform during morning tea.

Arcadia

Where: community centre and recreation reserve, Arcadia

When: 8am

A community barbecue breakfast will be held. Come along and meet new people, mingle and enjoy the day.

Dookie

Where: CWA gardens, Dookie

When: 10am

The Dookie CWA and the Dookie Lions Club will host the Dookie Australia Day awards and will provide a barbecue. People can head along, meet, mingle and enjoy the day.

Mooroopna

Where: Ferrari Park, Mooroopna

When: 10.30am

There will be an address by a keynote speaker and a flag-raising ceremony. Mooroopna Australia Day Awards will be presented. Official proceedings will be followed by a barbecue.

Murchison

Where: Murchison pool, Murchison

When: 8am breakfast, 9am official proceedings

Attendees will be able to enjoy a barbecue breakfast, followed by the presentation of Australia Day awards.

Tatura

Where: Victory hall, Hogan St, Tatura

When: 9.30am

A free breakfast will be held from 9.30am at Victory hall, Tatura. Australia Day awards will be presented and a morning tea will be held at the end of the ceremony.

Toolamba

Where: Toolamba recreation reserve, Toolamba

When: 11am

A free community barbecue will be held for people, giving community members the chance to meet others in the are and enjoy the day.

Longwood

Where: Longwood community centre and recreation reserve, Longwood

When: 5.30pm

Nagambie

Where: Nagambie Rowing Club, Nagambie

When: 8am

Nathalia

Where: Nathalia recreation reserve, Park St, Nathalia

When: 6pm

Numurkah

Where: Newman square, corner of Quinn and Melville Sts, Numurkah

When: 8am

Join in and a enjoy a free barbecue breakfast, entertainment and award presentation.

Strathbogie

Where: Strathbogie memorial hall, Strathbogie

When: 11am

Violet Town

Where: Violet Town community complex, 35 Cowslip St, Violet Town
