AN EXTRAORDINARY ENSEMBLE OF PERFORMERS WILL GATHER AT THE ROCHESTER SILOS FOR A HEARTWARMING COMMUNITY MUSIC EVENT.
The eagerly anticipated Songs at the Silos will light up Saturday, March 7 at 57 Mackay St, Rochester, featuring a dazzling mix of international opera stars, musical theatre virtuosos and homegrown talent.
“Music has the potential to enhance prosocial behaviour, promote social connectedness, and develop emotional competence,” Rochester Rotary Club event co-ordinator and past president Heather Watson said.
“It may be, this month (October 2025), three years since the traumatic flood event but it is known that it can take up to 10 years for the people and the community to recover from the trauma, especially mental health.”
This free community celebration will showcase the extraordinary talents of acclaimed performers: the charismatic Michael J Lapiña, the mesmerising Julia Allsop, the captivating Alex Pokryshevsky, and the enchanting Eleanor Blythman.
Adding a local flavour to the lineup is emerging artist Evie Scoble with her extensive repertoire, who only embarked on her musical journey in 2020.
Kicking off at 6pm, this family-friendly extravaganza welcomes attendees to come prepared for an evening under the stars.
Don’t forget to pack comfortable chairs, effective insect repellent and wide-brimmed hats to ensure maximum outdoor enjoyment.
Food options will include gourmet barbecues, soft drinks and refreshments from a coffee van.
This wholesome, smoke-free, vape-free, pet-free and alcohol-free celebration invites community members to pack delightful picnic baskets and immerse themselves in soul-stirring musical performances set against the awe-inspiring backdrop of Rochester’s beloved iconic silos.
