A VIBRANT COMMUNITY CELEBRATION WILL UNITE LOCALS AND VISITORS IN KOONDROOK ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 28.

The family-friendly event, backed by Gannawarra Shire Council Community Grants, will showcase entertainment and festivities throughout the day.

Koondrook Community Development chair Tom Chick says festivities will kick off at the Koondrook Swimming Pool on Murray Pde.

“We have chosen that day to avoid New Year’s Eve and all the clashing festivals that happen in neighbourhood towns,” he said.

The Amazing Mr Mike, a renowned magician who captivates audiences of all ages, will headline the afternoon’s entertainment.

As evening falls, the celebration will transition to Apex Park, Koondrook, where The Voice contestant Elias Layon and local favourite Elise Drake, a regular performer in the Echuca Moama and Swan Hill circuit, will take the stage.

“There will be entertainment from about 6pm to 10pm,” Mr Chick said.

The Barham Lions Club will operate their popular spinning wheel, while children can enjoy fairy floss and other treats.

“It will be a low-cost evening for families, using the free entertainment and a token cost for everything for kids’ activities.”

Food vendors will include the Border Flywheelers Club offering burgers and barbecue fare, alongside Murray Mallee woodfired pizzas.

BYO food and non-alcoholic beverages are welcome.

The event aims to foster community connection in a relaxed riverside setting.

“Sometimes it is just a good idea to sit down with your neighbours and have a chat with your local community,” Mr Chick said.

“You are sitting in the best spot, with million-dollar views of the Murray River going past the corner of the wharf.”

Attendees should bring deck chairs for the entertainment under the gum trees at historic Apex Park.

Free parking is available at the Koondrook Wharf car park and along Arbuthnot St.

In case of wet weather, activities will relocate to the Koondrook Memorial Hall.

Entry is free, with no registration required.
