Team: Echo Hope Project’s Women’s Empowerment Skills Building Program.

The Echo Hope Project is seeking volunteers to support its initiatives aiming to foster hope, improve safety and enhance economic empowerment for women and young girls in communities in need.

Registration now is open for the Greater Shepparton project’s Women’s Empowerment Skills Building Program.

The program aims to support the economic development of women and young girls by offering skills, knowledge, employment opportunities, pathways, networks, mentoring and leadership.

The program helps refugees and Australian-born individuals from the broader community integrate into the Australian workforce and society more effectively.

It prepares women, girls, those with disabilities and socially excluded individuals with relevant skills, such as literacy and numeracy, and empowers them to contribute to the economic development of, and actively participate in, their communities.

This initiative strives for a diverse and inclusive economy, promoting innovation and cultural exchange.

The programs include:

  • Literacy and numeracy classes, which run from 4pm to 6pm at Greater Shepparton Secondary College every Monday.
  • The Women’s Empowerment Skills Building Program is seeking volunteers with sewing skills to get involved, as well as donations of used or new sewing machines and fabric.
  • Free childcare and reading activities for children. Volunteers and donations of books are welcome.
  • Greater Shepparton Secondary College’s Homework Club on Wednesdays from 3:30pm to 5pm — more volunteer helpers are wanted.
  • Introductory Legal Education for Refugees and Digital Competency programs are running Tuesdays from 6pm to 8pm at 44 High St, Shepparton, opposite the Commonwealth Bank.

Aspiring volunteers or people looking to donate sewing machines can contact founder and director Declo Bisimwa on 0459 999 813 or at Inquiry@masomombelefoundation.org for more information.
