Extra water for Greens Lake

Greens Lake at Corop.

The Waranga Western Channel will be lowered from June 11 to allow for an inspection of the major offtake structure, with water redirected to nearby Greens Lake at Corop.

Goulburn-Murray Water storage operations south manager Paul Beard said the work was part of a maintenance schedule that requires a comprehensive inspection of the channel’s major offtake structure every 10 years.

“In order to undertake the inspection, we need to lower the Waranga Western Channel water level,” Mr Beard said.

“This means about 300 megalitres of water will be redirected to Greens Lake, so the community may see a small increase in storage levels there.

“Greens Lake isn’t part of G-MW’s irrigation delivery network and has a natural watering regime, but when operational purposes allow we can deliver water to Greens Lake and give that benefit to the community and the environment.”
