Young Rams work on play, development

While their clubmates in the Murray Football Netball League had the bye on Saturday, the youngest members of the Deniliquin Rams continued with round two of their separate competitions at the weekend.

Under-10s

The littlest of Rams put together back-to-back home ground triumphs, with another strong performance, this time kicking 6.6 against Echuca White on Sunday.

A good size crowd was kept well entertained by the home side’s high marking, strong tackling and good team work.

Echuca also had some good patches of play, especially in the second half.

Best on ground went to Nate Fitzpatrick who repelled plenty of opposition attacks and found the goals, while Jackson Catt was a strong ball mover through the middle and Connor Manson and Oli Hall both tackled well and showed sharp skills.

Jake Woolston was another to impress with his skills and pace, playing for both sides on the day.

Jed Fitzmaurice and Charlie Eastman played well up forward in their respective position rotations.

UNDER-12s

The u12s travelled to Gunbower on Sunday morning to take on Letichville Gunbower, a very welcoming club, and it was great to see two girls make up their team.

The game started off a rather scrappy, with the Rams put under a lot of pressure in the forward line. This made it difficult to convert through the middle.

Eventually the boys steadied and managed one goal leading into the quarter time break.

Like in the first quarter, the second quarter saw the majority of the play in the Rams’ forward 50.

A couple of great passages and run of precise spot kicks resulted in further scoring opportunities.

Coupled with a solid line of defence across the half back line, this meant the Rams went into the half time break keeping Gunbower scoreless.

Deni continued to run hard in the second half, with highlights being Rocky Sztejman and Lachie Tritton across the middle, resulting in many more scoring opportunities to finish off the game.

The Rams sang the club song at the top of their voice and will now enjoy a week off with a bye, before taking on a tough Echuca Bombers side in round 4.

Final score: Deni Rams 8.14 (62) def Leitchville Gunbower 0.4 (4).

Goal scorers: Lachie Tritton 3, Ned Wettnehall 3, Rocky Sztejman, Jacob Holschier.
