Witness the race that stops the nation at Echuca Racing Club

If you aren’t lucky enough to be heading to Flemington on the first Tuesday of November, never fear because Echuca Racing Club has got you covered.

The club is set to host a Melbourne Cup Day celebration on Tuesday, November 5 with its own race day while also broadcasting all the action from Flemington, including the $8 million Lexus Melbourne Cup live on the big screen.

The event promises a day filled with racing, fashion, entertainment and family activities in the heart of country Victoria.

The popular Fashions on the Field competition will return, showcasing colourful and creative expressions from participants of all ages.

Attendees can choose from various hospitality options, including the Punters Club Marquee hosted by Mick McGuane with catering by Two Tarts, or the beer garden featuring live music and finger food.

Umbrella packages, members-only dining and general admission are also available.

“Melbourne Cup Day is the pinnacle of racing in Australia, so it always makes for a special event for us,” Echuca Racing Club track manager Jarratt Farley said.

“The Melbourne Cup is currently our biggest-attended day for the season, and we will be looking at about 3000 people attending that event, which will be great, that’s an excellent number for us.

“Planning is in full swing, and we are in the midst of getting everything organised, everyone is very excited, and ticket sales are going fast, so that’s great.

“It’s always a fantastic day and the spring weather tends to bring a party atmosphere and plenty of attendees.

“We always look forward to it, and it is a bit of an honour for us to race on Melbourne Cup Day.”

Free shuttle buses will operate from 10.30am, with pick-up points in Echuca and Moama, running until about 5.30pm.
