Tongala’s A-grade netball side continues to post dominant victories, with the latest coming against Numurkah in round three of Murray league action on Saturday, April 14.
Tongala showed its quality throughout the contest, winning all four quarters once again to secure a 27-goal victory.
The first saw Tongala get the jump on Numurkah, establishing a 15-7 advantage at the first break, before extending its lead to 30-13 by the half.
The third quarter was more closely contested with Tongala coming out three more goals ahead by the final change, before sealing the win with a 15-8 final term to triumph 58-31.
The defending champion has yet to lose a quarter through three games this season.
The match came on a great day for the club, with Tongala winning across all grades of football and netball in round three.
“The girls played a really good game,” Tongala coach Grace Hammond said.
“I know we’ve only played three games but probably one of our more consistent games for the year so far in terms of our defensive pressure.
“It's building again and it's creating heaps of opportunities for us.
“(On Saturday) we made it a goal to be able to convert our centre passes and then the rest that comes was sort of just a bonus, so the girls stuck to what we went into the game to do and got away with the win, which was positive.
“It's always a good game against Numurkah having that rivalry.”
Hammond praised mid-courter Halle Grey for her performance on both sides of the ball.
“Halle Grey played a really good game through the mid-court,” Hammond said.
“She played through centre, wing attack and wing defence, played her role for the day and helped attacking and defensively to create opportunities for the team.
“(It) was definitely one of the better games of netball I’ve seen her play, so a really positive game from her.”
The Murray league has a split round over the next two weeks, with Tongala to have next weekend off before the A-grade netball team will be a heavy favourite once again as it faces winless Barooga on April 27.
