A mouth-watering contest awaits onlookers at Euroa's Memorial Oval when the Magpies host the undefeated Seymour during this weekend's Goulburn Valley League football round.
The Magpies sit in third spot with an 8-2 record, while the Lions still have a game in hand as they sit atop the tree with a perfect record through nine matches.
After coming off the bye and three hard-fought wins in the past month, Seymour is looking forward to challenging themselves against a fellow top-four side.
“They're going very well,” Lions coach Ben Davey said.
“They're a strong team, very talented.
“It's a big challenge for us this week.”
Davey said it wasn't as simple as shutting down one or two players considering the depth of the Magpies’ squad.
“They have so many good footballers in their team and they keep on bobbing up,” he said.
“Their backline works well as a team.
“We could easily sit on Jack Hellier and Ben Giobbi and the Gleeson boys (Jacob and Max) could bob up.
“If we sit on Tristian Davies, Erishmiilan Uthayakumar, kicked five goals last week, so he's a threat.
“Jack McKernan, whose such a modern day swingman, he’s everywhere, and their ruckman has had a fantastic season with plenty of hitouts and his work around the ground.
“They have a lot of good young blokes as well.
“You can't sit on one person.
“We need to play our own game of football and be conscious defensively as you can't let your man off the chain.”
The Lions’ ability to keep winning is more impressive when you take into account the club will have used 38 players at senior level after Saturday's clash.
“We're very lucky we have large numbers and our reserves have been going so well,” Davey said.
“The injuries are mounting and most of them are long-term injuries.
“We have seven players (selected) who have played 10 games or less.
“To be undefeated at this stage and have blooded 10 debutants, it shows they are a close group and very competitive.”
The Magpies will be looking to keep their own winning streak going as their last loss came on May 15 against Mooroopna.
