Planning is well under way for Deniliquin Racing Club’s 2025 Gold Cup meeting, on Saturday, October 18.
After a Cup Day wash-out last year, the club is eagerly awaiting the return of the major event on the local racing calendar.
The feature race will be the Deniliquin RSL Club Gold Cup, and the club is extremely grateful to have the RSL Club come on board as the major sponsor.
The local day coincides with one of the biggest days on the national racing calendar, with the time-honoured Caulfield Cup in Melbourne and the richest turf race in the world, The Everest, part of a huge racing day at Randwick, Sydney.
Deniliquin will have a six-race card as part of a bumper day of horse racing and social events.
The club reports that the track and surrounds are in excellent condition with a lot of work being carried out to continue the tradition of Deniliquin Racing Club providing great facilities and attracting large numbers of horses and racegoers.
Entertainment will include Fashions on the Field, which are always well-supported and have great prizes on offer.
The Peppercorn Party Enclosure is set to again be popular, with live music by cover band Fall Out. Tickets are now available on Eventbrite, by searching Deniliquin Racing Club.
There will be on-course TAB and bookmakers, as well as food and refreshments, with courtesy buses available to transport patrons to and from the racecourse.
The Deniliquin Gold Cup race day is always a great day of racing for the purists and a great social event for those who want an enjoyable day out.
Racing Club president Magnus Aitken said the hard-working committee was excited about the upcoming Gold Cup meeting.
“We are grateful to the RSL Club coming on board as the major sponsor, and to the community and business support that allows us to continue offering quality country racing in Deniliquin.
“The track is in tip-top condition, and we are looking forward to another bumper crowd and a super day of local racing,” Aitken said.
