Rochester is on the board in senior women’s cricket for the season after a decisive win over Cooma in Sunday’s round two action.

Rochy compiled a first-innings total of 110 for no loss at Windridge Oval, led by skipper Miranda Crawford (27 not out) and Cadence Major (24 retired).

Cathy Dervish stood out for the Two Blues in the run chase with 38, but Crawford again popped up with 2-10 in an even bowling performance to hold Cooma to 6-83.

It was Rochester’s first win of the season.

Meanwhile, Echuca Green was handed its first defeat of the campaign at Victoria Park.

Echuca drummed up a competitive 4-105 thanks to Chloe Moyle (23 runs) and Jessica Cox (17 not out), but despite two wickets to Olivia Hooper in defence of that total, Mooroopna reached the target eight wickets down with Gemma Boyd top-scoring on 31.

Meanwhile, Echuca White, defending just 73 runs, was unable to prevent Katamatite notching a nine-wicket win.

In Shepparton, Bamawm-Lockington United’s Amy Fitzgerald led a spirited charge against the ladder-leading Shepparton United at Princess Park, but the Lions could not pull off an upset.

Fitzgerald snared 3-13 and Ruby Brentnall 2-14 to help restrict United to 7-91, but the hosts were equally stingy with the ball in hand to bundle out the Lions for 37.

Kyabram joined the winners’ circle with a 26-run win over Nathalia.
