Lower bowls wrap ǀ Shepparton Golf pick up where they left off in division two dominance

Greens across the Goulburn Valley Playing Area were once again brimming with life at the weekend, as players returned to the rinks to get weekend pennant action back under way.

Shepparton Golf stayed perfect at the top of the division two ladder, securing a commanding 16-113 to 2-84 win over Kyabram at Shepparton Golf.

Strong wins from Robbie Betson and Roy Brown in their respective rinks puts the Golfers in good stead as they continue their title tilt.

Mooroopna Golf secured the upset of the round, coming away with a 16-94 to 2-90 win at East Shepparton.

Sherryl Emmett’s rink clinched a vital win against Kevin Cox who performed admirably, while skips William Malins and Craig O’Shannessy made the win official for Golf.

Meanwhile, Rushworth defeated Tatura-Hill Top in a 18-109 to 0-80 blowout, keeping the pressure on the top three, while Shepparton Park maintained a slim hold on second spot with a 16-109 to 2-82 victory over Mooroopna on its home turf.

It was mostly lopsided results in division three matches – Avenel dominated in its encounter with East Shepparton; a clean sweep of rink wins gifting the home side a resounding 18-122 to 0-52 victory.

It was business as usual for ladder-leader Seymour, cleaning up against Stanhope 18-127 to 0-58.

Shepparton Park and Shepparton Golf battled it out in the derby, with dominant wins to Stephen Hawkless’ and Frank Ivak’s first two rinks enough to put Golf in command early on.

A strong display in Wesley Gibb’s rink clawed back some vital points for the Parkers, before a nail-biting victory in the final rink of Kris Wright, Jo Crowe, Jenny Waddell and Bev Myers capped Golf’s victory in style.

Tallygaroopna stood tall to fend off fourth-placed Mooroopna in the final division three encounter,

In division four, Seymour clinched a memorable victory over Shepparton Park, getting up against the Parkers 13-89 to 5-85.

Vincent Muller’s rink win swung the match in Seymour’s favour, before a strong showing from Jim Shanahan’s crew in rink three put the Parkers back in contention.

A two-shot triumph to Malcolm Petty’s outfit in the final rink was enough to seal a Seymour victory

Tatura Hill-Top held on to defeat Euroa 14-110 to 4-103, while Seymour VRI and Nagambie strengthened their hold on first and second spot respectively, with wins over Dookie and Kyabram to round out the action.

  • Division five had Mooroopna Golf and Murchison come away with victories, with Tallygaroopna and East Shepparton collecting points after forfeits from Merrigum and Shepparton Golf.
  • In division six, Eildon 1, Alexandra 1 and Yea came away with victories in the south competition and Dookie, Stanhope, Shepparton Park 1 and East Shepparton triumphed in the north.
