Lockington-Bamawm United has course-corrected in round four of Heathcote District Football League to even out its season.
LBU claimed a nine-point win over Heathcote to get its season back on track.
Mind you, it wasn’t without its challenges, with both sides putting in a competitive four quarters.
Two behinds were all that separated the sides in the first quarter. Both contingents kicked a pair of goals, with LBU getting the extra chances.
Heathcote rallied back in the second term, bagging 5.4 to snatch the lead off the Cats, who tallied 4.1.
With seven points between the two sides at the start of the third term, Heathcote continued to keep its nose in front with 3.2 for the quarter.
Meanwhile, LBU kicked 2.6 to keep itself within striking distance, nine points down with an all-important final quarter looming.
With the deficit less than double digits, it really was anyone’s game, and the Cats held on to hope, bagging 4.4 to snatch the win away from Heathcote at the death.
The final score was LBU 12.15 (87) to Heathcote 11.12 (78).
Thomas Leech once again proved himself vital in front of goal with four majors and topped the Cats’ best-on list alongside Tyler Phillips, Matt Hore, Stuart Taylor, Jack O’Callaghan and Brodie Collins.
The Cats will have ample opportunity to rest and recover this week as they have the bye before facing rival Leitchville-Gunbower in round six.
