Juniors battle in interleague showdowns

Some of the top juniors from local leagues faced off on Monday as the best of the Goulburn Murray Junior League, Murray league and Bendigo Junior Football League took to Moon Oval and Windridge Oval in Rochester.

In the under-13, under-14, and under-15 grades, the three sides battled in round-robins, playing shortened games of two 20-minute halves.

In the under-16s, BJFL didn’t field a side, so GMJL and Murray battled in an extended game of 20-minute quarters.

A host of Echuca-Moama talents suited up across the grades, with Echuca Junior Football Club players representing GMJL and Moama and Echuca United lining up for Murray.

Moama featured in the GMJL rather than Murray in the under-13s.

In the under-16 game, GMJL was dominant, scoring a 22.11 (143) to 5.3 (33) win over Murray.

GMJL also defeated Murray in the other three grades in the round-robin format, taking the under-15s 72-1, the under-14s 67-7 and the under-13s 36-13.

Also in the under-14s, BJFL picked up a victory over Murray 98-6, while GMJL defeated BJFL 52-23.
