I’m extremely proud of all the hard work the boys have put in this year, to have all three football teams featured in finals is amazing.
I’ve always believed that having great people in and around the club is what makes it successful.
Playing in finals and winning premierships is great, but, it’s just as important to have an inclusive environment with a positive culture to ensure the playing group, coaches, volunteers and supporters enjoy being around the club.
Once you tick that box, it ripples out to the performance of the playing group and that has been what we’ve achieved this year — the hard work is paying off.
It is also critical that the board and committee are in line with the football department and share the same success measures, which has been the case for the past few years.
It will be a massive fortnight for our club, with our seniors and reserves both playing in a grand final, the buzz around the club is infectious.
We had to vacate the Wilf Cox Pavilion on August 1 due to the redevelopment, so we haven’t had the use of our usual facilities since then, and the boys are currently using the visitors’ change rooms.
We initially thought that this was going to be a big distraction and affect our preparation for finals, but we were wrong.
This situation has brought us all closer together as a club and made us all more resilient.
The support we have received from sponsors, in particular Cantech Engineering and all our other volunteers and supporters, has been nothing short of amazing.
Our kitchen ladies are still doing wonderful meals out of the canteen and our supporters are there every Thursday night.
I would like to thank everyone involved for making this transition as comfortable as possible and to the playing group, coaches, trainers and all football staff for their patience, work ethic, and resilience throughout this process.
The entire club and community will be right behind our boys on Sunday, and hopefully, we will bring home two flags at the end of it.
