Seymour Football Netball Club president Gerard O'Sullivan will take the reins of the Eastern Hill Cricket Club for next season.
O'Sullivan, who returned to the club as C-grade coach last summer, will take on the role of club coach for the 2021-22 season.
O'Sullivan is a familiar face at the Eagles, having played for the club at junior and senior level.
He also captain-coached the team during the 1990s.
O'Sullivan expected all the senior grades to improve under his tutelage.
“Across all three grades at senior level, we want to improve,” he said.
“For A-grade, we want to make the most of the talent and make finals.”
O'Sullivan said training would start in September, with the full squad available later that month or early October.
“We'll start in early September,” he said.
“There's a few with footy commitments, which I respect.
“Hopefully we will have the full squad ready to go at the conclusion of the footy season.”
Despite the struggles football and netball teams have had in retaining players this year due to COVID-19, O'Sullivan was hopeful last season's cricketers would return.
“The numbers were fantastic last year,” O'Sullivan said.
“I got involved last year for the first time in a while and we are always looking for new players.
“But I think all of the fellas are enthusiastic and looking forward to the season.”
O'Sullivan is hoping to improve the consistency of the group and to make sure they are enjoying the game and the club environment.
O'Sullivan will replace Seamus Feery and Jake Sutherland in the coaching role.
Feery will stay on as captain.
