Bowls is back, and Eight Ball also on the cards

Robyn Little missed the jackpot, which now jackpots to $200 for next week.
John Murray and Lyn Hardcastle were the only three game winners last week.

The Clear Lifestyle Support Jackpot Bowls resumed at the Deniliquin Bowling Club last Wednesday, albeit at an earlier time.

With the cooler temperatures not far away, it was decided to move the evening start time to have names in by 12.30 for a 1pm commencement of play.

Having said that, there will be no play tomorrow as the club will be hosting a memorial for Paul Snare’s wife Margaret, who sadly succumbed to a heart attack a few weeks ago.

Last week’s play saw Lyn Hardcastle and John Murray claim the bragging rights as the only three-game winners.

Then Robyn Little had her chance at the $150 cash jackpot, but failed to find the joker which means it will be $200 tomorrow week.

In something a little novel for the town, the Deniliquin Bowling Club will be holding an Eight Ball tournament this weekend commencing with a knockout competition following the Friday night raffle.

Then on Saturday and the better part of Sunday, six teams of four players will do battle in a format where all 24 players will eventually play each other during the course of the weekend.

There are teams coming from Sunbury, Maryborough and Portland, and even two teams from South Australia, one from Eudunda and one from Sutherlands.

Locals who share an interest in the sport, or would be merely keen to watch some quality players, are welcome to attend.

Play will commence at 9am on both days, with the competition due to be completed by about 3pm Sunday.
