St George Illawarra's Valentine Holmes looks to have overcome a shoulder injury in time to remain a State of Origin option for Queensland.
The incumbent Maroons back had appeared in some doubt for the series opener on May 27, after he was troubled by a shoulder issue during the round-10 loss to Newcastle.
Immediately after full-time on Saturday, Dragons interim coach Dean Young was unsure of the severity of Holmes's injury.
The issue came only hours after Maroons halfback Tom Dearden was ruled out of at least Origin I.
The Maroons are already preparing to play the series opener without walk-up starter Xavier Coates, so could ill afford more injuries in the outside backs.
But in a boost for Queensland, Holmes completed full contact training on Tuesday and looks set to be available when teams are picked after round 11.
Holmes trained at left centre for the Dragons on Tuesday, his preferred position at club level, but played on the wing when Queensland won last year's decider.
A veteran of 17 Origin games for NSW, Dragons co-captain Damien Cook expected Holmes to play Sunday's Magic Round clash against Penrith.
"He's tough. He'll be fine," the hooker said.
"The backs had a really solid session today and he got through that fine. He looked good out there today."
Holmes has endured a poor season of individual form at the winless Dragons, but has played all 12 games of Billy Slater's coaching tenure so far.
Robert Toia, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Selwyn Cobbo and Jaxon Purdue are among other outside-back options for Queensland.
Murray Taulagi would be a leading contender for a spot on the wing but has missed North Queensland's last two games with concussion.
