Man allegedly breaks into Shepparton house while armed with knife

A man was armed with a knife when he confronted a woman inside her Shepparton home early on New Year’s Day, according to police.

Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Jessica Stievano said the man broke in through the back door of the Ashton Rd house about 3.30am.

He approached a 33-year-old woman at the house while he was armed with a knife, Det Sen Constable Stievano said.

The man allegedly stole a set of car keys before fleeing on foot.

No-one was injured in the incident.

Det Sen Constable Stievano said the man was not known to his victim.

The man is described as Caucasian, aged in his teens or early 20s and slim.
