A fire in bush between Shepparton and Mooroopna on Saturday, September 13, is being treated as suspicious by police.
CFA firefighters were called to the fire near the walking track next to the Midland Hwy, on the opposite side of the road to KidsTown, shortly after 1pm.
Mooroopna CFA firefighters had the fire under control in about 10 minutes.
It burnt an area of grass about 20m by 10m.
Police believe it was suspicious and are investigating it.
Firefighters were also called to a large burn-off in a backyard in Mooroopna on Saturday night.
CFA District 22 commander Pete Dedman said the blaze was initially called in to emergency services as a house fire, but on firefighters’ arrival was found to be a large rubbish fire in the backyard of the property.
Mr Dedman said the fire was about 4m by 15m, and firefighters remained on scene for about an hour blacking it out.
The fire was against Greater Shepparton City Council by-laws that prohibit burn-offs in town.
