Greater Shepparton Young Champions Youth Committee is looking for young people to be part of its Music, Arts and Culture Committee.

Applications are open for new members aged between 12 and 25 to join the committee.

The role of the committee includes planning and delivering local music, arts and cultural events for Shepparton’s young people.

Greater Shepparton City Council was successful in receiving funding from the Victorian Government’s FReeZA program, which previously supported the popular ‘Word and Mouth group’, to encourage and promote youth-friendly events.

Mayor Shane Sali said “the initiatives of FReeZA and the committee help young people take on central roles in staging the different shows on offer”.

“This is a great opportunity for our young people to develop skills in leading, organising and developing events, as well as showcasing their skills and talents and being seen in the community,” Cr Sali said.

The committee’s plan is to run and support safe, youth-friendly events for young people.

Applications must be in by Monday, December 12.

For more information regarding applications, call council on 5832 9700 and ask to speak with the youth development officer.
