Young musicians on path to Deni stage

Calling young musicians for the chance of a lifetime.

Young musicians in the Murray-Riverina have a huge opportunity to step into the music industry and could earn themselves a coveted spot on stage at the Deni Ute Muster.

The Band Enabling and Training Sound-Lab (BEATS) is calling for expressions of interest from emerging musicians and aspiring industry professionals to take part in an immersive program to inspire, upskill and connect young people, passionate about music and live performance.

Participants aged 15 to 27 will take part in online mentoring with established industry professionals before coming together in Deniliquin for a five-day live-in Sound-Lab intensive in March 2026.

The program concludes with a two-day festival featuring performances, industry activities and a Battle of the Bands, with the winning act earning the spot on stage at the Deni Ute Muster.

The program welcomes those who play as well as those interested in production, marketing or other aspects of the music industry.

The program is open to young people with some experience in music, performance or related fields, and welcomes those interested in all areas of the industry, from songwriting and production to event management, marketing and touring.

Project manager, Fabian Pertzel said BEATS was created to open doors for young people in the regions who are looking for a pathway into the music industry.

“We know there’s incredible talent in regional NSW, but often fewer opportunities to take that next step,” Mr Pertzel said.

“BEATS is about bringing young people together, connecting them with mentors and giving them the skills and experiences they need to grow, whether that’s on stage, in the studio or behind the scenes.”

“The program specifically aims to support young people in regional areas who may face barriers in accessing professional development opportunities in the music industry, with a focus on creating sustainable pathways for creative careers.
